Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, an American and British sitar artist. She's the smallest woman and the first to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shankar is among India's rising stars in the sitar. She is the student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the early years of her life moving between London and New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. She graduated in 1999 from her high schooling at Encinitas CA. While she's still young Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording record. She often joins her father on stage, which she's been doing for quite a few years. She has released Anourag her first solo album in 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated Live at Carnegie Hall. Stage performance is a significant part of her work. She has performed in a variety of major venues all over the globe. Her career extends beyond the realm of music. Bapi the The Love of My Live, a biographical picture written in tribute to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In 2003, she was a Bharat natyam young dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is continuing to advance on her path and will surely be more things to come from this talented lady. Anoushka shankar is an English born musician who spent her early days in London, Delhi and California. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration Anoushka first made an appearance performing the sitar in front of the audience at the age of four, following her nine year old father. As a part of her dad's band as his world tour, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and recording with George Harrison. Her musicianship and talent were recognised by British parliament as the best at Asian Arts.
